Kent Ridgeland Makeover - cheap Walmart bike upgrades

In this video I upgrade my Kent Ridgeland with mostly parts I had laying around the garage.

I have a few cannondales. But I’ve also own a few of these Kent 700c’s over the years and they are pretty good bikes tbh. For 100 you can’t go wrong!

I converted mine to 26 inch wheels with front disk brake, north road handle bars, springer fork, leather saddle, and an electric hub motor.

so you got rid of the safety reflectors? to reduce weight? i understand the better tires more durable. the shamono pedal crank ok.

Without the acid green and yellow it looks way better.
Thought about grabbing one of these for a winter bike since my road bike runs 25mm and those tires are much bigger.

I ordered one on eBay my plan is BMX handlebars 29" mountain bike tires a seat with a back rest I like the crank set you put on too

nice bike. it has large clearance for tire and V brake too. you can turn it into Tracklocross or Single Speed Gravel

I keep coming back to this video. I doubt i'll ever get a ridgeland, but my own bike adventures have gone well. I mean fine right now I'm stuck on a single gear because the shifter tore up (yes that's a fifteen buck part but like... stuff's come up so I don't feel comfortable putting priority on that.) Bashed and hacked and turned my freewheel into a single speed freewheel. Deraileur off. chain cut to length. Put a spacer made from discarded woven wire fence we have laying around (no rust on it) behind the freewheel. It is VERY much a hack job. Yet it rides. it honestly feels good to putter around on. AmI insane? Maybe, but the process of constant adjustment til igot it right has me thinking 'Huh mask off most of the frame and black out the front and rear dropouts, maybe some blackout on the underside of the bottom bracket and fade up the front triangle...'

I've yet to try the big giant scary hill I couldn't even with low gear... but like... my bike is in working condition until I can prioritize it again.

You were holding the channel lock plyers upside down. When held the correct way the get tighter as you put more pressure so they don't slip off.

Dope!! I could tell you like to tinker and you did it on a budget... im a bit over $200 on bike parts from se bikes and maxxis holy rollers on a $180 bmx mongoose grudge.. i stopped at cranks.. i wanted to sell it and get a nice old road bike.. but people are cheap.. so i kept it and just cruise it from time to time.. also interested in a fixed gear just for the heck of it..

Quick question. My son has been riding this bike and last month while away at college the bottom bracket indeed did seize. If we purchase the Shimano BB UN-55 can we reuse all the rest of the gear on the bike including the crank, pedals, and chain? Much thanks for your input!
