People ask this kind of question as if having animals from completely different areas wasn't enough, but also as if they would actually go the "1v1 me bro" route. Gorillas are social animals for multiple good reasons, one of which is safety, that's why they didn't evolve to be nearly as strong as a bear.

The largest gorilla ever recorded was a 590 pound silverback from Cameroon. The largest grizzly bear ever recorded was 1600 pounds. Any adult who thinks this is going the gorilla's way should start a fistfight with a nine year-old, take note of how that goes, and extrapolate from there.

PS: Gorillas are herbivores. Bears are really not.

Been having this argument with my coworkers for months over this exact issue. Literally everyone but me picks the gorilla. I know a bear would win but their argument is a gorilla could over power a bear with a chokehold or the fact it has a more powerful bite.
