Been playing 40:years, but it must have been under a rock because a live Stray cats video popped in my feed the other day. I’m hooked and can’t wait to get stuck in. Thanks for this.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you very much! One option that you may not have tried, is that there are now commercially available flat picks incorprated into either a flexible or rigid band that allows flat picking in addition to more conventional finger picking patterns.

This is stellar!!!! Do some guitarists that finger pick grow their finger nails out? If my finger nails are not super trimmed, they grab the strings and its a feeling I don't like at all so I try to trim my finger nails as short as possible before trying to practice any type of finger picking.

Forgot to ask in my last comment... I've been trying to get better at finger picking for years. I find it so hard to play the bass notes and lower strings at the same time without messing it up especially when a hammer on is involved, in particular when I think about what I'm doing I end up messing it up. What are some ways I could try to get around that? Should I play bass note and lower strings independently for a really long time until I don't even think about it and then try to mix them together? At times I am consciously thinking to play the bass note and the lower string notes at the same exact time and it makes it easier to start off that way and keep it going until I start to think again.
