I am baffled by Lisa's views here. How is the Umpire wrong, how can she say oh he was 20 mtrs away, maybe didnt hear. Even if he didnt hear the umpire, anyone with little common sense, would stop running if they see someone standing infront of them. And anyone who has played cricket at any serious level, knows you are not allowed on the pitch before the match. Lisa is too experienced so I cannot attribute this to ignorance, has to be some other reason.

What a ridiculous statement from Lisa Sthalekar that the umpire had a degree of blame to accept - The umpire was clearly doing his job - if you see when the bowler ran in the first time, the umpire was trying to communicate his concern from the side of the pitch - To blame the umpire having an ego clash with the bowler is totally misreading the scenario, she has a degree of bias for whatever reason - 4 weeks was very lenient!

3:58 - how the heck is the umpire at fault here?! You can clearly hear them having a conversation and Curran decides to ignore it and runs at the umpire and taunts him by side-stepping at the last moment and brushing past the umpire. That is intimidation: imagine having an argument with someone and they come running at you like that - you would instinctively react in defence/fear for your life because you feel intimidated/threatened, and some people might even punch the person in self-defence.

2. under 12 players know the rule about not running on the pitch
3. the sandpapergate reference makes no sense. They were banned from all forms of cricket for 12 months not 4 T20 hit and giggle games

The lady commentator trying to make excuses. Curran knew exactly what he was doing. If he couldn’t hear what the ump was saying he would’ve walked up to the ump and clarified but he knew exactly what he was doing and was trying to intimidate the ump. Disgusting behaviour

Sthalekar says this doesn't happen in the women's game. A fitting reply would have been "It's true. We also dont get to see the same level of speed, power, intensity, passion and the crowds on display in the women's game either." And talking about egos of the men involved as if the umpire was somehow at fault. A really poor "innings" as a commentator from an accomplished former player like her.
