Darwin's Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Charles Darwin and is celebrated every year on February 12. Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 and this year marks his 212th birth anniversary.

Charles Darwin dedicated his life to Science and his contributions are so significant to the field that it needs to be studied and celebrated even today.

It was Charles Darwin, who brought the idea of law of Natural Selection and showed us a clear picture of how everything , almost every species were connected. He was fascinated by different species of animals and fossils from around the planet. So he set on a 5 year voyage on the Beagle to sail across in order to study them. According to his ideas, certain species originated from certain other species. The theories like theory of evolution, origin of species etc., are some of his remarkable contributions to Science.

The first Darwin Day was celebrated on February 12, 1909. From then on it is celebrated annually as an effort to appreciate his work and his life.
