Say what you will about Cameron, but going from a Truck Driver without ever going to film school to becoming one of the best directors ever is incredible.

James Cameron is a true blue collar hero. Former janitor to make ends meet. Teaching himself cinematography and special effects at a public library in his spare time while being a truck driver. Climbing the ladders below the line as a special effect director/matte painter. Sleeping in his car in LA before securing his first true directing/scripwriting gig on Terminator. Diving alone in the Mariana trenches at the deepest of the Pacific Ocean in a sub he helped building.

How could you not admire that man's accomplishments?

After watching this fully, I conclude that James Cameron is not a mere director anymore. He has become beyond Hollywood. He has become one of the great driving force of human progress. True value to society.

Would not call him the best director. But, for me he is the biggest visionary. He does the stuff he wants in the way he wants. I find that inspiring.

The story of a trucker becoming THE most rewarded filmmaker of all time with no formal education in the art (not 'one of'; THE most) should be an inspiration to us all.

It's crazy to think that Fox hasn't paid James Cameron a penny for Titanic after all this time. He sacrificed his pay for the sake of the moive. They need to make that right

Dude I already love this man works, but watching I know why he said he was the King of the World when he won that Oscar for directing Titanic, goddamn it he deserved that, this man is the TOM CRUISE of Directors, an explorer a Scientific, an ecologist, an artist and a Film maker, how in the world he finds the time to make all this is beyond me and make it as successful, Avatar 2 is already breaking records (again for all the doubters), this man is a treasure and an Inspiration to all who wants to create stories and worlds to fantasy and live in those worlds, and for that I can't thank enough James Cameron, this man is my favorite film maker today.

I was also born in Kapuskasing, Ontario. But about 20 years after James. Not only is he the world's biggest director, he's directed some of my favourite films of all time. Maybe one day I'll make it as a filmmaker, then there'll be two from Kapuskasing.

Big Cameron fan here. His body of work has made him the best action director of all time. It always feels visceral and authentic unlike a lot of directors who go overboard into the realm of ridiculousnesses. His action sequences in Aliens, T1 and T2 were incredible. The attack on Pandora in Avatar was brilliant too. Nothing wrong with having a big ego in the movie business when you can deliver the goods to an audience time and time again.

This video makes me appreciate James Cameron more. I like how Avatar was inspired by a dream James Cameron’s mom had

I think Cameron does more in a day than I do in a year.

that's Cameron's mantra 'do it right or don't do it at all - and it shows - every freakin' time!

I have never heard of afternoon tea breaks lasting an hour here in the UK, 10-15 mins is the norm, has been for decades so I question that. Lots of well respected directors work perfectly well at Pinewood making Bond movies and other major motion pictures and still do. So I think this was more likely a culture clash between a workaholic Canadian director with a lot to prove on one of his first major movies and an established crew used to working a certain way with breaks included. An outstanding movie none the less.
