Arab traders did in fact control the Atlantic slave trade, the preferred slaves to fill harems were white women captured on the European coast. The men of any color brought to the Middle East would get neutered to ensure they had no offspring. The reality of slavery is not done justice in the the few chapters in your history books dedicated specifically to American history and the slavery that took place here.

Edit: as a sidled note slavery was not new to the Americas, the indigenous had been enslaving other tribes as far back as there written history goes, same as the rest of the world.

Jesse is more right than he's wrong about slavery, because it didn't happened just to the blacks, I'm an Arab in the middle east, in the Arabian Peninsula before Islam brown Arabs enslaved other brown Arabs & whites have nothing to do with it, and through history every country suffered from slavery if you notice the rich and powerful people in that country they never been enslaved they were helping the colonisers to enslave the weak instead of resisting because they were afraid to lose everything so it's a all about money and power ...

You guys are to smart to have such simplistic views on slavery. Acknowledge the indisputable facts: slavery was EXPORTED from Africa, not imposed on Africa. Take an HONEST look at the world in the year 1619: slavery had not been an integral part of European society for 1000 years. Slavery was a THRIVING, FLOURISHING INDUSTRY IN AFRICA IN 1619. When European traders first met African traders, the African traders most lucrative trade WAS SLAVES, African traders EXPORTED THEIR TRADE. Why weren't there an Indian, Chinese, Native American slave trade with Europeans? Because Chinese, Indian traders WEREN'T PRIMARILY TRADING SLAVES! The focus on Europeans being the CONSUMER of the African trade of slavery is truly ridiculous. The transcontinental slave trade was not traditional slavery via conquest, it was the apex of industrialized COMMERCIAL SLAVERY, the African industry of slavery that was thriving in Africa in 1619 unlike anywhere else in the world. Jesse Peterson is great! He can make a person look and feel so ignorant and stupid so respectfully! As for the slave question. The tribes in Africa would go to war and take prisoners, the jewish-owned slave ships would make contact with the chief of the African tribes and pay them for their prisoners and criminals. Then take them up the coast selling them to the highest bidder. All the slave auctions in America happened up north as there were no ports in the south. The first person in America to buy a Slave was a freed black indentured servant. He had many slaves. With that being said, I think slavery was the worst thing that ever happened to America!
