Fun fact: packing peanuts have always been edible, just not food grade. When I was like 4-5 I ate packing peanuts like popcorn ( this was around 2013-2015)

When my brother was stationed in the Philippines we packed his treats in big ziplock bags full of air popped popcorn and sent that bright yellow popcorn seasoning with it. He said as ling as the bags didnt break open the popcorn actually was edible.

Did you know most packing peanuts are actually made of starch so they are technically edible but they aren’t food grade because of the way the are a made and handled I learned this when I was 15 and ate some because I thought they looked like cheese less Cheese puffs lol tasted like them but with no cheese. Making them out of starch makes them easily biodegradable and non toxic
