Lyrics:
The saddest story ever told
The perfect Glory
So all alone
And I could love you
Til kingdom come
I might not deserve you
But save you from
The saddest story ever told
Loving only
What you behold
In your own reflection
When love is here
All your pretension
I hold you dear
The saddest story ever told
Narcissistic glory
To be all alone
And I could show you, listen what I say
To feel real love is to give it away
A happy ending would never be
Narcissus dying

Be in love, be in love, be in love, be in love, be in love with me, Narcissus

Rosebud
Narcissus touch me reach out your hand
Oh if you fall in love with your own reflection like it was planned
You would die in love fading to feel or to understand
That only I can give
Narcissus, I the nymph
The rosebud
Narcissus see me turn into sand
If you fall in love with your reflection you may be damned
But darling I could teach you to feel and understand
Narcissus my love, thy love Echo

I'm Italian. In the late 70's Raffaella Carrà, very famous Italian showgirl, did lots of videos like this for her great success. This video bring back so many memories of my childhood. Same outfits, same hair, same special effects. So cool and psychadelic! Music is different of course. Carrà's songs were more simple and fun (some almost stupid). But the same energy and style! I love it.

I genuinely have never seen an artist release music for nearly 30 years and continually bring me joy, excitement, and genuine enjoyment. Róisín is truly incredible. Please never stop.

Her taste level is like no other. Always bringing some weird, unexpected angle, very enjoyable.

This sounds like it should be a 70s disco classic.

Not a single song is a "filler song" they're all genius and artists now can't hold a candle to this!

The mark of a good singer for me is when you hear the voice you know instantly who it is. Roisin is one such singer. Her unique vocals, without having to be overpowering, are a joy to the ear. She's given us some great tunes for over 25 years now and it's a shame she hasn't reached the full recognition she truly deserves. Her days with Moloko in the early 90's showed her potential & I would always say investigate those years if you don't know them.
Her love of dance music can never be denied of course & this very Daft Punk sounding video version of 'Narcissus' is yet another blinder to add to her ever increasing catalogue.
Grace Jones, similarly, made some fantastic music in her early career but was never totally appreciated as such until, I would say, she sang outside Buckingham Palace for the Queens Golden Jubilee. Hula hooping, no less, in her 70's through her entire version of 'Slave to the Rhythm'.
Roisin will have her defining moment one day I'm sure. She's one of a kind & long may she reign!

We don't deserve her, TBH. A goddess.

If you don’t know Roisin Murphy did Raffaella Carrà, one the greatest italian singer, disco diva of the 70’s and 80’s and a gay icon ✨

I remember listening to this in my car driving to work when it was released before Thanksgiving and turning the music all the way up as loud as it would go and singing a harmony part to go with it. Love this song!
