Why try to reinvent the weel? Why not use PnP site tempaltes and include the PnP provisionning template directly in the SharePoint core? I don't think see the site templates/design a an enterprise grade solution (at least for the forseable future).

And I guess everyone is still looking for a main answer about adding your organisation template on the organisation tab without using PowerShell. Is it possible?

I cant revert back to the previous template version now i have to redo it please help because i can see the previous applied template in template versioning but i cant apply it to be my home page as it was previously

This is incredibly poorly handled by Microsoft, the inability to create your own template in the UI is a bummer, even worse is that for as long as it's been like this Microsoft hasn't tried to do anything about it.
