Rock am ring
The video was subjected to deep frame-by-frame restoration: deinterlacing, removal of MPEG2 compression artifacts, removal of the TV channel logo, elimination of "noise", color correction to the BT.709 standard, global color correction of all material, frame-by-frame adaptive image enhancement to 1920x1080. the resulting material is packed with AVC x264 codec with maximum quality settings and original frame rate. Added similarity to Intro and end credits. The audio track obtained from the CD rip was subjected to quantization frequency change and dynamic and frequency processing. DTS 4.1 multichannel track was made. Everything is collected in an MKV container.

This is not a simple upscale, it is the result of a rather long and painstaking restoration. Only the restoration of the video itself took 19 days. The source material was VERY noisy and overflowing with MPEG compression artifacts due to merciless compression. In general, the video is now more suitable for viewing large screens, but of course this is not a full-fledged Full HD!

Difference from the version broadcast on the WDR channel
1. Replaced audio track
2. Video restored
3. Removed the channel logo and creeping line at the end of the program.
4. Added Intro and end credits.

thanks for your job on the footage. it’s easy to notice that this is not the case of modern day “4K remaster” with poor antialiasing and stuff. certainly feels like a labor of love and general human decency loool.
in other words - thanks for sharing it, felt absolutely like a genuine modern day footage. and yeah - thanks for the audio in particular. at this moment i’m kinda used to hear ridiculously quite masters for everything that goes along with “Rock Am ring 200_” in a title of the video, but the thing is that in a sense the 00’s was the peak time period for a shit load of absolutely one of a kind live sets in an alternative realm of music and on this specific stage. so hearing this master was a pleasant surprise here besides everything about the video, that’s been said above. 🙌🏼
