That "weird thing" is called either an AWL, or it might be an Ice Pick, but it looks large enough to be an ice pick. Awls are generally shorter, but not always.

Thank you for your very clever ideas. Like your other fan, I never thought of using frozen water. Do you do anything to polish the can after you finish punching in the holes for the design? If so how do you do it? Also, have you ever tried painting the cans?

that was just what I was looking for. Thank you so much for sharing. I have got a question for you. Will the light also shine through the holes that are really low at the bottom of the tin can? Or does it make sense to leave a small edge from the very bottom - like the hight of the candle?

Lol! that thing is called an awl. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if (when not using a paper pattern), one can use a sharpie to create a design BEFORE freezing? Have you tried it? I've save about 30 cans and I finally want to do this! :)

I have tried to do this and froze water in my cans and the bottom of the can is dented outwards? What do you then?

I made this, but i didn't freeze it so i learned from my mistakes to always freeze it or the can will get all

It will turn out better if you make your design with the can upside down then you wont have that opened space and it'll make it easier to turn the candle on!!!!
