Werewolf legends are found all over europe. I‘m not sure one can say that werewolves were inspired by romanian pricolici/varculac

How werewolves were inspired by the Greek god, Lycaon. Some what rekated to Zeus...kinda. The reason I say that because I heard stories that say he's a son of Zeus but the most common one is Lycaon is like the father-in law of Zeus in a way because Zeus slept and had a baby with Lycaon's so on believed daughter, Callisto. However, as the story goes, Lycaon tried to trick Zeus into eating human flesh and as punishment, Lycaon and his sons were turned into wolves by Zeus. It was also told that Zeus turned Lycaon into a wolf on four legs and Zeus threw him into the night sky right next to Centaurus the Wise Centaur. And according to the Greeks, that's how Lupus was in the night sky. However you can see Centaurus grabbing Lupus the Wolf to kill him. In another story, Zeus threw a Wolf into the night sky right next to Centaurus and Centaurus was known to sacrifice wolves for some reason. In another story of Lycaon and Zeus is Lycaon was turned into a hybrid creature called Wolfman. He was half man, half wolf and mash those two together and change human into its Latin wkrd and you got werewolf. After that, Lycaon starts spreading the disease/Curse as we all know the name of it, Lycanthropia. And that's where that name of the curse came from. He spread it all on man kind and turned them into werewolves. I don't know the rest of the story but I guess he turned Lycaon into a regular wolf and throw him in the night sky like the other story.

But I guess Romanians can also inspire the werewolf in a way.
