What does the future of education look like in a wired world? In this film, Indian education expert Sugata Mitra conducts a daring experiment. In an Indian village, he builds a school that only exists virtually, in the cloud.

In many parts of the world, just getting to the nearest school is a long and sometimes dangerous undertaking. For many children, that means that attending school is nearly impossible.
Sugat Mitra’s experiment seeks to address this. His idea? Converting a kiosk in an Indian village into a school that children can attend at any time. It‘s a school with computers instead of books. Using the internet, children can contact and learn from people all over the world. Or they can learn independently, without adult supervision. This documentary follows the project as it evolves. How will these children respond to the Internet the very first time they encounter it? Will this school help them change the course of their future?

A priceless sight is a child's face when curious about something... And the giggles after figuring it out 😊🙏👌

My 5 year old has been learning online since Birth! Her education and curiosity and ability to use the computer daily is sky high! This is one if the best methods to teaching young children.

Self-learning is the best learning. The job of a teacher is like a midwife, she has to bring out the best from the students. Any educational tool which kick starts the thinking process of a child is a great tool. The schools have to completely stop making robots out of students and help them think differently. SUPER EXCELLENT DOCUMENTARY !

The sheer quantity of high-quality documentaries you guys put out is astonishing. EDIT: NGL I really wish you guys translated more videos, as I tend to listen to most of your output while doing other tasks, so jumping back and forth to read the subtitles stops me from finishing most videos.

I really know the power of self learning, I had a computer with Encarta Encyclopedia installed and I learnt things that school couldn't have taught me.

It's 4 am, I woke up from a nightmare, found this video - recommended from a friend - started watching it and time flew by, incredibly engaging and interesting. What's next for the project? Got me wondering that we need this in Brazil too...

Just perfect! These types of experiences are what must be carried out today. Education, seen from a privileged position, is a matter of form, but by understanding what exists behind each child, it becomes a matter of substance. As lovers of education, it is up to us to be disruptive, innovate and inspire students to learn, to be themselves and of course, to create more and better opportunities for their environments (give back). As always, excellent documentary.

This video clarifies many things about the School in the Cloud that teachers and other people often seem to incorrectly assume. It has amazed me to see teachers do and say such things. I have seen videos and audio recordings of teachers jumping to false conclusions and putting words into Mr. Mitra's mouth that he did not say. Some teachers won't even watch an entire video or listen to his entire speech after they falsely conclude that Mr. Mitra is saying teachers are not needed anymore. I have watched a large number of videos on Mr. Mitra's ideas and it's nice to see a video that covers many answers that I learned of only after watching several other different videos.
It puzzles me a bit that no backup system such as a BRCK Moja Wifi offline stored content net, Kolibri, TABLAB, downloadable software, TutorialsPoint or Byju's Apps were not put in place for times when the internet was down. If the internet goes down, the Government of India or the service provider should pay for an all expenses paid trip to the nearest KidZania interactive city for all affected children.

i don't know how effective this form of education will be when they move to the real world and employment, but the concept is very interesting and i appreciate the balls the schools have to try something new. i wish them best of luck!
