The Kia Sportage is a compact five-seat crossover utility vehicle. With a striking new look, improved quality throughout and a bevy of high-end features available this generation Sportage represents a sizeable leap from the previous generation. Seeing this stunning redesign of the Kia Sportage is really impressive. Kia Motors made a smart move hiring Peter Schreyer as the head designer for Kia Motors. Prior to becoming the head designer for Kia; Peter Schreyer previously worked for Audi and Lamborghini, which are German and Italian car companies, respectively. So when Peter became the head designer for Kia- a Korean car company- he knew that in order to help Kia sell more of their vehicles he would have to design vehicles with a splash of European flair combined with the best technology money can buy.

We bought ours 5 years ago with 35, 000 miles on it. We mow have 275, 000+ on it. Never had a single negative mechanical problem. So reliability is top notch all the way. We have the AWD version, but have never needed to use that feature. The gas mileage is not very good as stated hear. We get around 22 mpg combined. The infotainment system is also too notch, with exception of the gps system which sucks.
The seats and interior are amazing quality.
The maim negative is the paint on the front started peeling off after we had it a couple years. Ended up putting a bra on it.
I would definitely recommend this car, but don't waste money on AWD.

I agree also, Kia has really stepped up it's game, and you can't beat the warranty either. People now are looking for a great product, and also a great value. I for one, will be buying the 2013 Kia Optima EX, a terrific car. I drove other mid size cars, and Kia has it all.

I try hard and still can't figure out this interest people give to badges... what's wrong with kia? looking at all the esuipments this car had, it's definitely a bargain. I really cant' see why should I get more in debt just to have the VW or the Audi, if I could get a car with practically the same equipments, and half the price...

those are 18 inches wheels bro, you said 16. the differents is that the 18 inches tyres cost more then double compare to the 16 inches.

@jwatwater audi did not introduce LED's to d auto industry infact hyundai did with their 2004 HCD 8 concept, audi was only quick to put it into production

It's Sport-age in the states. The US shows on the Sportages were pronounced Sport-age. The European unveiling pronounced it the Sport-taw-ge.

New for 2012 is the SX trim of the Kia Sportage, which has a 2.0L turbocharged I4 engine with 275hp. That's more hp than the Audi Q5 (260hp), or the BMW X3 (240hp). It also has a sport-tuned suspension which improves handling to about the same level as a Q5. Though the X3 still handles better, the ride is also harsher in the X3, especially for daily driving. The MSRP is $27, 000, with a fully loaded model costing about less than $30, 000, best value for money in a compact SUV!

FYI, Kia is gonna put a more powerful 274 hp version sometime in 2011. So if you want more power you got it.

Telescoping steering wheel is an option...wow. And even though its interior is stylish, its a very cheap interior just by looking at the vid i could tell. Although I guess thats sort of expected from a car with this base price, but not from a 30K car. Still good car

@kembooo000 Driving dynamics, better technology and quality of materials, interior comfort, better performance both on road and off.... Just some of the reasons people would choose an Audi or VW over a Kia. Not that Kia is a bad brand, but there's little point arguing that it lives up to premium brands in all areas. It may be a better value, but that doesn't mean it's a better car.
