Dr. David Wohl helps lead the respiratory diagnostic center at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill that tests hundreds of patients a day for COVID-19.

He is the principal investigator of a study evaluating several promising treatments for COVID-19. That includes a large, nationwide, NIH-sponsored trial testing hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to treat patients with COVID-19.
Before the pandemic began, his research focused on serious viral infections including HIV and viral hemorrhagic fevers, such as Ebola and Lassa fever in West Africa.
