Gifts of Maine:

Bangor, Maine is a wonderful area to visit and live. It has a rich in history from lumber, education, fishing, and ship building. The man in the video holding the 25 pound lobster is my brother (6'-3"), Bill Stanford.

I’m moving to Herman, just outside of Bangor in August or September(whenever our house is done being built). It is a dream come true and one we’ve been working on for 5 years. I’m still pinching myself, tbh. Honestly, your state is the most gorgeous place I’ve ever seen! I’m going to watch everything you’ve put out so that I can become better acquainted with things to do and see. Bangor is the perfect size for me…maybe not as “cool” as Portland but it’ll work for us just fine. We are moving from the Midwest where I’ve lived all my life. This will be my first big move. I’m scared but so excited!

I first visited Bangor/Bar Harbor in 2018. I instantly fell in love. Acadia was my first ocean experience and I just couldn’t believe just how stunning, pristine, and blue it was. I was 43 and had never seen the ocean. Your food up there is just, omg. The air is so clean, as well. Acadia is perfection and I knew the first time I saw it, I had to permanently move to Maine to be as close to the ocean as possible within our budget. It took a lot of begging on my part to get my husband to agree, but I finally got it done. I feel so blessed.

This is/was the friendliest town. When we returned after 9 months from Desert Shield & Desert Storm, the town folk met us at the air port with fresh milk, fresh cookies...boy, what a treat! And the latrines were clean and had plenty of hot water for shaving...I will always have fond memories of Bangor. Thank you.

I'm thinking about moving to Bangor in the future. I'm a native new Yorker and I currently live in Virginia. I'm hoping to find a place with a mix of urban and suburban and I was told that Maine [and specifically Bangor] was a good choice for me to consider.

Also...considering all the shit that's going on in the world...I wanna be as close to the Canadian border as possible...

by about middle of November all I can think of is how nice it'd be to get out of Maine for December thru April. And the feeling gets worse when I hear a team of Canada geese flying due south in a skein, honking all the time. I just admire them for being able to do every year what I haven't been able to do for 41 years : leave for the winter.

I went through Bangor at least a dozen times during the GWOT days. The locals were the first American faces you'd see every time we got back, and it was always a warm welcome.

You do a really good job of selling the place. I'd like to do both the Canadian Maritimes & Maine someday as a rail holiday right to the PNW.

I live in Bangor. It's really not a great city to live in and very expensive for a small city. There has been an increase in the population over the past 3 or so years. The city is starting to become overpopulated with people from surrounding towns shopping every day with the already 33k people living in the city. It's like taking the population of Portland and putting them in Bangor.

It's better to live in one of the surrounding communities because of lower property taxes and your children will have school choice as to what sort of high school they will go to.

I definitely want to move to ME but I don't think they can really claim 'thd best seafood in the world ' with NB and the rest of the lower East coast Canada, that coast line doesn't stop there just a border there it's literally the same water/ fishes
( I Hate seafood btw)

I live here it's not Boston but it's still a shit hole. High homeless tones of drugs addicts and sex offenders at least there is stuff to do real culture and nice stuff in Boston everything in Bangor is mediocre at best
