Virtual X-ray for large motors

A digital twin enhanced with mathematical models enables electric motors to undergo something like a virtual X-ray: A virtual sensor developed by Siemens researchers measures the temperature of the motor's interior without the aid of a single sensor installed there. This information makes it possible to prevent unnecessary downtimes – a change that can dramatically lower operating costs.
