You could have just said they went back to the way they used to name em. I’m 73 and worked on Cats my entire adult life and liked the original way they badged them🥴 Nice of Cat to finally realize that the old way was the best way 👍

I have ran heavy equipment all my life . If it is a CAT I can run it . Doziers are my specialty as a pro operator . The new D4 is amazing ! And the next Gen 6 is such a BEAST ! We have about 50 employees and 65 pieces of equipment ALL cab -in Cat equipment 2012 and up . Very nice tools ! Kudos to CAT !

The D7R will never be "replaced". Its a prized stallion with a *BEAUTIFUL* sounding engine.

I love the fact they are doing this. Every manufacturer should make it this easy.

I like the different quotation that the old Cats had for the dozers but now it’s more simple and less stress

I think where this really matters is on the secondary market (used equipment). People buying used where getting very confused about which model is what, affects performance of the machine and the cost/value equation. Glad they made the changes.

I retired from the guard running cat dozers, the old d7g and Vietnam era dozers turned into them giving us the d6k which was heaps smaller than old d7s weight making me wonder …. Now it comes full circle bc it’s always just been a d4 that lost its identity in the size classification.

I couldn’t have presented a better explanation of the change my self! This was an excellent video on that particular topic. I like the fact that they are cleaning-up the numbering and lettering to a much simpler understanding. I never had a problem with the former model identification, however I like the simplicity of 1 through 11 as it should be in my opinion. I love the Cat brand of equipment and the company’s dedication to the industry we serve. Although I knew previously knew about the changes that were being made, I’m glad there is a video filled with information on the subject for all to understand. Great job!

I feel like I'm the only one who is gonna miss the old nomenclature for instance 963B, D8R, 330CL etc. 😔

Having a d6k2 on rent right now. Yeah. I'd say it pushes like a d4d, maybe a d4h. Hmm maybe cat dealer will knock off some rent. I rented a d6, got a d4. Lol

Ok if a d6 is really a d 4 then a d4 must be a d6 or is a d6 a d5 that was a d4 or is the d3 really ad5 that then wanted to be a d4. I think I have it. So which should I get….a d8 or d9. Whew….I am tired

I guess I'm just so old school I go with the first part of the serial number prefix for example d8h 36a means it was a d8 with a standard transmission a d8h 46a denotes a power shift seems simple enough to me.

I'm glad they put the xe on the six so I know what to avoid. I want nothing to do with any thing cat makes with electric drive they break down constantly and cat has to come fix them. We have 7 d7e's and half are just sitting because no one wants to run them and we are using our older 7rs instead. The 7e was a flop just like the 336eh

Yep, G
The good old ways, my D8H was all by it self in size. Everyone knew what size and weight it was. Only change was the
newer "HIGH HORSE"

I guess with badging nomenclature I prefer the dash( - ). D6N-XE. Always kinda simplified for me but that’s my tiny little brain at work.

Nice vid.

I like the old number, the larger the number, = more HP and weight. My D8K is old but still a good dozer. The letter just means a newer model improved.

So now 5 is bigger than 4. 6 is bigger than 5. 7 is bigger than 6.... What a brilliant use of logic!
