Sweet Treats Manila: Ya Kun Kaya Toast Singapore to Manila Philippines Jazz Mall Makati. Ya Kun Kaya Toast is a Singaporean chain of mass-market, retro-ambience cafes offering kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs and coffee. Founded by Loi Ah Koon in 1944, Ya Kun remained a small family-run stall for decades, but have since rapidly expanded and they now have over 70 outlets, mostly franchised, across six countries, and are a Singaporean cultural icon.

Kaya toast is a well-known snack in Singapore and Malaysia. It is prepared with kaya (coconut jam), a topping of sugar, coconut milk and eggs, pandan, and butter. It is generally served on toast. It is considered an all day breakfast staple, and remains popular in Singapore. At Ya Kun it is best dipped into soft-boiled egg with a little dark soy sauce and white pepper.
