Day 1 Appalachian Trail Thruhike 2023 | making it to Springer Mountain, Southern Terminus of the AT

In this video, I hike the Approach trail to the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. It’s called Springer Mountain, Georgia! I made it to the start of my journey! Let’s do this :)

About the white blazes if you see to on a tree if the top one is slite higher and to the rite that means the trail goes to the rite

Yeah - stay hydrated regardless of the weather...as someone who typically drinks gallons of water a day, that can be a challenge, esp. in the drier parts !

I had to postpone twice. Your time will come, and it will be better than pushing thru. plantar fasciitis stopped me once. I got that resolved when I talked with a retired anesthesiologist who recommended Walk Fit inserts, which resolved it for me. I had suffered with it for 5 months. These inserts have inserts - yeah that is what I said. The anesthesiologist wore them too. He told me I could start with the low and gradually work to high or do straight to high. I was going to gradually, but after two days on low, I went to high; I have felt great every since. Thank God.

I'm a California teacher. Always skew toward having fun. If that means slowing down, taking a zero, making a side trip to rest up, do it. — Lots of people are vlogging the AT. Truthfully, not all of them are very interesting, but many people are just doing it for family and friends. If your hiking partner is not shy, some trail banter can make the videos more engaging and interesting to the viewer. 😉
