If you increase the volume with mouse scroll wheel it still goes to 200%. What you did is just the setting for "display", not the actual volume!

Doesn't solve anything. It still goes to 200%. I wonder what kind of a developer decided that this is a good idea and didn't leave an option to limit it to 100%?

Doesn, t understand dislikes. It workes fine, even with mousewheel. You have to save and restart VLC, then try again.
Never understand why VLC has a default that lead to instant clipping (with any normal mastered music and movies where the peaks are close to digital zero). Just stupid... And then then settings, with such a bad description and even worse translation if you use other languages...
