I loved this video. It is so different than any other I've seen! Part makeup/part life lessons :) It's so true that YouTube has changed everything for young girls learning about makeup. I have been obsessed with makeup my whole life (I am 55). I remember wandering the makeup aisles at McCrory's five and dime for hours as a little girl...salivating over the Revlon, Max Factor, and Cover Girl makeup that I couldn't wear yet. Fast forward many years and I now work part time at Sephora (in addition to my "regular job") so I guess it was meant to be. I certainly made tons of makeup mistakes over the years. Your story about getting the eyeshadow pallette at the Dollar Store and using it as foundation actually made me a little teary :( I love your personality and your videos. You are a unique voice and I am glad you are doing your own thang!

OMG YES. LONG'S. THIS IS SO NOSTALGIC FOR ME. I love seeing old makeup, and hearing about old makeup. My first piece of makeup I ever got was a cotton candy pink frost with chunky glitter from Maybelline when I was like 8-ish and I begged my mom for it. I can't even. 13 years ago I had zero idea what I was doing.

Why does makeup have to get old!!!!? I totally understand you. I'm the type of person that hoards old makeup, clothes, and perfumes. I guess I save them because I always think there's a better time to use them up but in reality I just save them and save them thinking there's never the perfect moment to use it up! Thanks for this video, brought back my old memories of junior high and high school. :')

cassandra, i totally understand! Its hard for me to throw away old makeup too...but sometimes you have to! What i do is i just put it on a bag and i have my sister throw it away for me without me around that way i dont ever see it!

I am a bit of a makeup hoarder myself. What I do is in the middle of a season (when my skin has decided what color/level of oiliness it wants to be) I go through my makeup. Anything that isn't the right shade (if it's summer and it's still to dark or winter and it's still too light) I toss. Also anything that does work in the other season but will be expired by the time it will be the right shade/ level of mattifying/ etc gets tossed. Then anything that I haven't used in the past year. Then I will gather the non-expired products I'm getting rid of and offer them to my Mom and sisters. If they don't want it and I won't or don't use it, it goes.

is soooo cool when you think about your first makeup kits, and they were pretty poor quality, but back then it was the best thing on your i had this very cheap gloss that lasted like 5 minutes on my lips before fading, so i just take it with me in my pocket all the day and put it on my lips over and over and over again until bed time.

I am 40 and knew what you would say when you showed the watermelon gloss. I think we all had our first love wearing that. If you like a powder and it comes with that brush thing put it in another container either one you get from michaels, eBay, Sally's, or an old bare minerals container.
