Phil, Thank You for the change in format the last couple of months. I have been watching the channel for years and it's great to see your face instead of just a pair of hands LOL. Also thank you for the drivers, instructions, tip & tricks you put on your website. I have been able to sort out many issues on my Retro Builds because of you. I am looking forward to more great videos! 😃👍

Windows 98 must run like a BEAST on that thing

As MB said here in the comments, thanks for everything, I just put together a P 200 MMX with a SB Pro 2 and a 1.3 Athlon with a Voodoo 5 and a Live SB 0100, most of the hardware decisions and drivers came from your videos or website. Oh and the new format refreshed your channel for sure! THANKS A LOT!

I have the 12900H in my Precision workstation. It's an absolute beast... though I will admit, it does get very hot.

Great video, as always, Phil. I wish this box had a Thunderbolt or PCIe port. This CPU and form factor would make an excellent portable VR rig with a more powerful GPU.

Just got mine today, works fine and runs average games pretty well. The thing was heating up but not to bad.

1:32 - That's one Retro-looking BIOS - but I think that I prefer it that way.

Mxm slot issue is bummer. I guess that's why they aren't releasing NAG9, 129H+6600M Machine, and released this instead

I must admit that I have enjoyed your channel over the years and, of course, you should run it how you want to run it - and I wish you every success in the future.

But, the content has changed recently and not in a good way, in my opinion. Your channel used to be about getting older hardware to work, how to set up configuration options in MS-DOS and Windows 9X (something I used to do a lot myself many years ago until I moved entirely to Linux when Windows 7 support ended) and, as someone who collects and repairs old IBM / Lenovo Thinkpads, I've even found your MS-DOS tutorials extremely useful for some of those also. There was more of a "uniqueness" to your content back then - and it's a credit to you when other retro channels mention that they used "one of Phil's MS-DOS boot disks".

But here are many channels reviewing new hardware now - I get why you do it, it's nice getting free hardware to play around with from sponsors - but I am very much an old hardware enthusiast that absolutely loves the idea of buying some "broken piece of cr*p" on eBay and just getting it to do something useful instead of sending it to landfill, something that you used to do a lot more of.

I also have zero interest in any Windows after Windows 7 (I even don't like WIndows 7 much, Windows XP was "peak Windows") and your focus on those later Windows versions now really doesn't "scratch my retro itch" any more.

Just my 2 cents worth but "you gotta do what you gotta do" and I genuinely wish you success in whatever direction you take the channel.

I am hoping to see you test the upcoming AMD apu chips and compare the graphics and gaming performance. Nice to see Intel step up their IGP game.

When it comes to mini PCs, I prefer to just stick a mini ITX mobo into a nice Chopin case.
I have a tiny PC with a Ryzen 5 5600G. It runs great.

Would be awesome if a more expensive version with an RTX 4050 / 4060 or RX 7600S are available in the future. To me the NAD9 isn't exactly tiny so i hope they can stuff that in the motherboard.

Nice breakdown assessment. Highly useful presentation thx!

Hey Phil, you should make a video about PC emulators, for ex. PCem, they are good for Windows 3.11 and Windows 98, and maybe compare them to real hardware.

iGPU's lack of compatibility with older games is painful. I kinda cannot live without some of my classic Games on my PC.

Have you looked at AsRock deskmini x300?
It's an amazing little beast for it's size

I built a home pc for my parents with earlier A300 one, i put Ryzen 3200G, 16gb ram and it works like a charm

The newer x300 supports R7 5700G and it has bunch of upgrade options, IO is a bit limited but for the size, it's understandable
Not to mention you can put 2 2280 m.2 AND 2 2, 5' SATA ssds into it
Would make an amazing home server

Really tempted to buy 2 of those to run them as servers for music production. How did you find the RAM / USB C speeds ?Also did they say what's the size limit of the NVME drive ? (2tb ?).
Great video mate, thanks :)

MXM, well that's a name I haven't heard in a while. I hope they make a comeback but this time around I hope it will be compatible with more devices not just specific ones and also I hope they do not need any bios hackery to make it work on other devices like the old ones.
