In America (please forgive me if this applies elsewhere) the mother’s maiden name is listed on the birth certificate not her married name. This is used to distinguish the baby from other family members of the same name like fathers and sons etc. An easy example is John Doe Sr and John Doe Jr, their mother’s maiden name distinguishes one from the other. The “single” represents one single baby.

It's December 2024 and "Archie" is 6 and Lillibet is 3, and we, the general public, have yet to see "the children" interacting in real time with their amazing all-knowing parents, Meghan and Harry. They have been on numerous trips overseas this year alone, thousands of miles away from their very young children, seemingly without a care in the world, and when they do get back to the states, they are constantly at events and galas with celebrities while "the children" are with God knows who. Perhaps not putting Harrys' proper name on the certificate is because he is not the true ( blood ) father. Just like in England Megan's proper name is not on the birth certificate but Harrys' is., , , , Those two are so screwy it's unbelievable!

This is the US. We got rid of royalty in 1776, and we don't want it back. The child's name is Mountbatten-Windsor and that's Harry's name too. Prince Philip fought for that name. Harry does his "beloved" grandfather great dishonor by not using it.
