Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.

The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

To the people hating on Ramin and to the people hating on Norm,

They're two entirely different actors. They may have played the same character, but it was in different shows. Do we really have to compare them? I mean, they're both pretty amazing to me. Besides, why hate on two amazingly talented people? Sure, some people like one phantom more than another, but that doesn't mean that they have to hate on another. Just saying.

I am obsessed with Norm's acting as he watches Sierra hit those high notes. He did an amazing job seeming completely infatuated with her as I imagine the Phantom is with Christine. Though to be fair it's hard not to be infatuated with Sierra fricking Goddess

Raoul: *CHRISTINE WHATEVER YOU MAY BELIEVE THIS MAN THIS THING IS NOT YOUR FATHER*

Me: Sebastian politely disagrees

The timbre of his voice is just so intense and commanding. He's really captivating.

Why is everybody being so negative, norm gave an excellent performance, he fits the character perfectly just like the rest of the phantoms who have come before him. Phantom is making a step through history by casting their first black man and I find it great who else knows what the future might bring for phantom. I got the privilege to see norm performing in this character as well and he gives such a powerful act that it gets the hairs in my skin rising plus he adds this perfect sense of mystery to the phantom which is needed considering the original character in Leroux's book.

Norm & Sierra have such beautiful, enchanting voices that work so well together... alone, their voices are stunning, but in these roles together? It's magic.

0:51--Okay, Norm has definitely seen the silent film. That beckoning with the hand is pure Lon Chaney.

I have always thought the Phantom should be a baritone. His character is all about mystery and a façade of power and sexuality, and a tenor voice doesn't rrally capture that. The tone of a baritone is much darker, richer, and more resonant than that of a tenor. Don't get me wrong, Michael Crawford is my favorite and I am in no way opposed to tenors, but I prefer deeper voices.

You know, it's kind of ironic...they were father and daughter in the little mermaid and now in here they are lovers.
