About video
In this video you understand different types of offences in CrPC. The offences are classification into two parts, more serious and less serious. More serious offences are cognizable, non-bailable and non Compoundable; whereas less serious offences are non-cognizable, bailable and compoundable.
In cognizable offence, the police can arrest the person without a warrant, whereas in non-cognizable offence a warrant is essential.
Bail can be granted in both bailable and non-bailable offences. But in bailable offence, bail is matter of right. The arrested person has a right to bail. In non -bailable offence, bail is not a right. It is matter of discretion. It is the court's discretion whether to grant bail or not.
Compoundable offence means where a compromise between the parties is allowed. When there is a compromise, the accused person is acquited from the charges or punishment or fine. In non-compoundable offence compromise is not allowed as it is more serious in nature.
