It's not hard to figure out why young people today are attracted to socialism. The equation is pretty simple. Bad parenting + bad education = socialists.

I stand with American Patriots, . The world needs you to stand up for freedom once more. God bless you all. Much love from Ireland, a nation you have always been good to.

They want equal rewards for unequal individual effort.

Socialism and social media both contain the word social. They like social media so therefore socialism must be good. They're that uninformed and very much that simplistic and stupid.

I remember when people at 15 were DYING to hurry up and get their drivers licenses, their first cars, and fly the coop. Even if they greatly loved their parents, they were dying to "grow up", to prove themselves, and embrace their independence. And i'm talking about the early-mid 1990's!!!

It cost me $300 to get my license as a teenager; I don't blame anyone who doesn't wanna pay that

The prophets of old said one of the signs of the end time is when literacy is at it's highest, but knowledge is at it's lowest. I'm paraphrasing ofc, but this is what's happening now.

interesting. as a person who was born and raised in an authoritarian socialist country that turned into a democratic capitalistic country i'm always amazed by the high temperature of these 'socialism vs capitalism' debates in America since i believe there's not that much to be excited about. But this video made me realize why this topic is so important to American people - it's all about preserving national identity. America has always been a country where a person with no connections and a 100$ in their pocket could make a big career and become a millionaire. If you implement European-style welfare state policies 'the American dream', the American ideal of a 'self-made man', will be gone forever.

Just an interesting thought, I was a fan of socialism as a teenage atheist; yet as I reached 21 I became a born again Christian, I still have a feeling of dependence, only now it is on God and not government.
I now have a far greater drive and motivation to actually live life, while oddly feeling more dependant than ever. Now however, it is the Father in heaven I trust to provide for me rather than Uncle Sam.

Socialism is for people who are clueless or actively refuse to accept reality where pretending to be a victim doesn't give you the right to expect the whole world given to you for free. Socialism is also for people who ignore examples in actual reality like Venezuela, Cuba, North-Korea, China, Vietnam, Germany etc. etc. By the way, I've also noticed how certain types of rich kids also have no clue about the value of money or what it means to work for money and actually earn it, which can also be sometimes be why they turn into socialists as without an accurate sense of what things actually cost, they expect everything to be able to be covered through government spending. Free education, free healthcare, free everything. I suppose it is an extension of poor education, but many of them did have education on why the Soviet union collapsed, why China changed it's economy etc. etc. So it's so weird. It's like they're in denial of reality.

I'd say the math in your equation is pretty darn accurate.

Just an FYI, for anyone who cares, about something YouTube is doing. They have their AI set up to where if you post a comment that contains a sentence that speaks in any way negatively about, umm, that woman running for congress mentioned by Matt, the comment is shadow banned (appears to be there when you're signed in to your account, but if you sign out and look again, your comment is not there). It's happened to me too many times to be a coincidence. I've tested this theory by editing my comments to delete whatever sentences were about "her", and then when I sign out of my account and check, I see that my comments are now "there" and visible to the public. This is truly 1984, folks.

I think it's not the parent's fault, just a failure of schools to show the deadly historical consequences of socialist/communist policies.

Honestly I don't think Millennials know what the classic definition of socialism is. I actually know people with their master's degree and someone with a doctorate Who didn't know what the classic definition of socialism is. Young people want free stuff because free stuff is great. The young have always leaned more to the left. We've lost a lot of our pride as well.

Part of the problem is that we "need" technology and iPhones and cable tv of course that cost $$. Another problem is health care which is outrageously expensive. Also, Millennials go to college, and then go to work for low wages and have to pay off the high debt of college. It's a problem.

I suggest government assisted trade and Tech schools for those who show aptitude. The emergency medical treatment and Labor Act makes it necessary for Government Assisted Healthcare, but only on a state and local level please.

Focus on wage stagnation to make possible for people to actually pay for rent food utilities and Healthcare on minimum wage so it doesn't need to be subsidized. Maybe this will help.

Good luck.

This problem is much larger than many seem to think. The negative effects of Socialism on a once Capitalistic and wealthy country might take decades, even allowing the generation that implemented it to live most of their adult and retired lives under the apparent 'wonders' of Socialism. It'll be the kids and especially the grandkids that reap the devastation of the implementation brought on by their Millennial grandparents.

The cost of living is a big factor. I was shocked when I flew out to Denver and saw the rent prices. I'd have to earn 50 dollars an hour to make it on my own out there. 1, 500 dollars a month rent for a studio? No thanks.

They have a glorified view of it like young people in the mid to late fifties
I think the easiest way for them to understand it is for them to go live in a socialist country
