Taiwan will be the red line. If the line is crossed, war is inevitable. This is the likely scenario: Taiwan will face a barrage of cruise missiles into its cities and military bases. China will turn on anti-aircraft missiles batteries to protect against retaliatory attacks. China will not care about the number of Taiwanese deaths because there was a precedent in history. In 1979, China made incursions into Vietnam just to punish it for sidelining the Chinese after the Vietnam War. Should Americans decide to help Taiwan, then a bigger conflict will emerge. If the US bombs Mainland China cities and civilians, Guam and other bases, even possibly Washington DC will be target for nukes. That's when the world will end.

Taiwan is a part of China because China has 2 parts, Taiwan of China and mainland of China due to civil war. Currently both 2 parts have their own administrations but UN and almost all countries admit mainland China as the country China. Sooner or later both parts will be united because separation caused by civil war should not last long. God bless their union.
