Messi was awarded with the 2021 Ballon D'or, while Robert Lewy hasn't recieved his 2020 Ballon D'or, and a humble Messi for saying that it was Lewy who really deserved the 2020 Ballon D'or but was cancelled due to the pandemic, but even if Lewy dont win one, he will still be one of the best strikers and players in the world ! :)

Reason is BoD's lack of clear and objective criteria, giving anyone who votes the possibility of having their own criteria, which makes the winners see unfair sometimes. This can be said for almost every other player award, and imo, there should be criteria in those kind of awards that say who was "objectively speaking the best player of the season".
Luka wasn't 2018's best player, not even in the WC, nor in the Champions League, nor in La Liga, not even Real Madrid's best midfielder, he just had a cool history of his NT getting to the WC final.
Jorginho wasn't 2021's 3rd best player, not even in the Euro, nor in the Premier League, nor in the Champions League, not even Chelsea's best midfielder, but he won both Euro and Champions.
Speaking of NT competitions, they make those votes very biased at the end of the season, as Messi mainly got it this year because Copa América, Sterling got a very high position for a poor season at Man City, Mary Kay got a very low position for being PL's top scorer and top assist, Kjær should have got a special award for Eriksen's episode, but naming him one of the best CBs of the year because of that is not right.
I don't like these kind of awards because of the lack of criteria (yes, I mentioned that three times already) and impartiality, ignoring the ones who shouldn't and aiming for those who have more media and the winners of UCL and NT competitions.

A lot of people saying that Lewa should've won this year and last year. Last year, he should've won it 100%. But this year, he did play well but Messi's stats this year were incredible but I still wanted lewa to win the ballon d'or this year.
