🌳🌳🌳 Hey folks! We just realized that we had overseen a note from our tree team just before the holiday break: the Ecosia community planted 19 million trees in total in 2024, not "just" 13 million. What a great mistake to correct. Well done and thank you for making this possible 🥳

This is exactly why I don't watch mainstream news anymore. Remember that these news channels are a business like everything else and the scarier the headline, the more clicks it will get. It's not profitable for them to be positive. This is why channels like yours are what we need to see more of :)

I donate monthly to three different reforestation groups, I use Ecosia, I use two different recycling methods besides the local center, and I sign petitions whenever possible. I hope it all helps and I try to think of ways to do more.

What gives me hope for the climate is the fact that giving up hope will make it a lot more difficult to fix things. I maintain hope through sheer willpower for that reason.

This is the first I'm hearing of most people wanting to take action...I've been sitting on this idea for a while, and I figure here may be a good space to share it. Not everyone knows this, but batteries and light bulbs are recyclable. There are recycling facilities for them all over (at least, there are here in the US). It's worth it to look up where your nearest battery and light bulb recycling facilities are. They could be as little as five minutes away.

Sadly, most people just throw away their old light bulbs and batteries. They wind up in the ground or water where they leak toxic materials into the environment. Some of the materials in light bulbs and batteries are rare, and throwing them away means there's less available for the future. Driving to your nearest recycling facility every time a light bulb or battery dies is tedious, but you could collect dead batteries and bulbs in a box or a few boxes and drive them to the facility all at once when the boxes are full. You could also go around your neighborhood and offer to drive your neighbors' old light bulbs and batteries to these facilities for them. It would take minimal time and effort and it would help out the environment a LOT.

Thanks so much ecosia for the amazing video, I have been feeling really hopeless about the climate crisis and it feels like any individual actions I take, especially as a young person who doesn't live in my own house so doesn't have direct control, are pointless, but this video really helped me realise that we have to keep fighting, and we can help make a difference. Lets start a chain of the small changes we have made to help others see what they can do too! I'll start: I convinced my family to start recycling soft plastics at a local recycling point (i know not using plastic would be ideal but that is not a realistic optiion, so recycling them is the next best thing), buy most of my clothes from vinted or charity shops, recently invested in reusable period products and, of course, use ecosia!
