Pixar's SOUL - Epiphany (Piano Cover)

My piano cover of one of the key moments from Pixar's soul, "Epiphany". It's a brilliant soundtrack to a beautiful scene, I hope I did it justice here. Enjoy!

The original score was composed by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste. I arranged this by ear, so I don't have any sheets for this at the moment.

What I love about the music in this scene is how meaningful the arrangement is, in the context of the film (SPOILERS).

Throughout the film, scenes with Joe on Earth were scored with jazz arrangements, while scenes with Joe in the "soul world" were scored with electronic, atmospheric music, giving each their own unique sound. This scene, in which Joe reflects on his life on Earth based on what he has learned in the soul world, is the first time in the film we hear a jazz piano arrangement accompanied by electronic elements, symbolizing how both of these worlds collide in this moment. Great stuff.

This scene was beautiful... when Joe removes the sheet music and instead just reads the little trinkets from his life... wow!

He thought playing piano was his purpose, his meaning in his life. And while it did bring meaning to his life, he realized that life is always meaningful, and to deny any one moment in service of another would be a waste. It’s all beautiful.

I really loved this part of the movie because it kind of makes YOU the viewer reflect on your life too which is amazing because it gives you a moment to think of everything you’ve done (i really love your cover by the way!)

I not only think of the scene but also my own life.
It gives me a slap back to reality.
To continue enjoying my life because I’ve been out of it recently aka not enjoying it all that much.
