Being popular in high school is awesome but to get there is quite hard. This will take a lot of social skills and looks or just RIZZ. Anyway I would love to hear what level of popularity you were or are and I don't want to see 99% of the comments saying they sigmas, be honest. I was probably a level 3.5 or something like that.

I feel like many people just play sports cause of the benfits that come with it.

As someone who went from level 1 to 3 (Maybe even 4), this sht is too accurate. A lot of it just had to do with changing my mentality. I was that stereotypical nerdy kid who just watched anime and played videogames all day, socially awkward asf and never really tried to make new friends bc I was in my head all the time. Got blessed w good genetics, so I figured, why not give this so called "socializing" thing a shot and here we are.

and 80% of this is determined by your looks

Before this video even started I knew I was gonna slot perfectly into level 3.

When I started college I found it quite refreshing for "popularity" to not be a thing anymore.

as a level 2 you described me spot on
- mid/good terms with a good amount of the school including at least 2 level 3-4 kids
- very unlikely to get the 🔫 in school
- has a few friends but generally not very involved in the friend group outside of my few friends
- "adopted" by a massive extrovert who knows the entire friend group and a few other people
- no rizz, barely talks to women
- nerd but somewhat respected for it due to the caliber (one of the two best math kids in the school, the other is one of my friends)

I started out as a geek freshman year, finished off high-school as a state champion and still hold the majority of the records for our track team. Never got invited to parties cause I still hung out with my geek homies, and it was already too late for me as I'd already labeled myself as being a bit of a weirdo for eating lunch with the band kids, watching anime, and being tech illiterate with social media. Never leave your day ones in the gutter us geeks are the chillest people on the planet and I wouldn't trade my high-school experience for being more popular if it means giving up time with da boyz 💯

I was the Kid who everyone knew, everyone was friendly with, but never had a real friend group. I had 1-2 close-ish friends who I didnt hang out with much outside of school.

My time in high school was essentially the perfect script for a tv series.

After switching schools in 2008, in the 8 grade; I was the new kid, no friends, no outstanding characteristics, no one knew me. That year, I was living out my childhood dream when I joined the Volunteer Fire Department. So I had that, and made friends. But was held back, repeated then 2010 I started High School.

My freshman year, there was a school bully who tried to steal, lie n spread rumors since I was quiet while I continued my passion for Martial Arts n soccer. One day, this bully stole from me and out of trying to be nice, o said fuck it, and I stabbed him then trashed talked him; I was suspended.

2011, my sophomore year was me gaining confidence while all the pretty n popular people liked me for my passion, personality something happened to me later in the year that changed everything.

2012, I nearly broke my neck in martial arts; I was forced to quit everything I had, and all the people I thought were my friends made jokes about my injury. During the summer, almost everything I had going from me was ripped away, and no one seemed to care.

August 2012 my junior year, the whole high school turned on me as my personal life was in shambles. I was addicted to pain killers, sleeping pills and alcohol. That September I saw the afterlife for 2 minutes, then in October had my 7th concussion in 6 years, November I had a mental breakdown and December I was sick. It wasn’t easy, and all the new pretty popular kids got all the attention while I was suffering n battling addiction, it seemed like no one wanted to check on me.

That March while on a class field trip; everything finally caught up to me: the years of concussions, the neck injury, the pills addiction; and I was going through withdrawals the whole trip, my eyes were blood shot, I was losing feeling in my arms, dizziness, behavioral changes and memory loss. I had to get help, so I made a plan to rebuild my self for my senior year and show everyone.

It started with me getting sober from the pills, then I started focusing on my neck issues, I then, made an effort to talk to people more, and I was doing things to make me believe in myself again. There was this crush I had, I started talking to her and younger class men of the school my senior year, I started ti help them, I was doing better in school; and people kinda wanted me to be around. Then, I started wearing nice suits in school, wore jewelry, grew my hair a little, walked with a swagger, and now I had developed a really good skill, charisma when I was speaking. People noticed how I had changed over time.

At our prom, my classmates payed a tribute to me at our dinner party with ZZ Top: sharp dressed man, then afterwards, I brought my electric guitar, started playing, then got sever girls numbers and even got a kiss.

Then before graduation, I finally had made myself better, it was hard going through the trial I went under, but it shaped me.

I was the kid who hated everyone and never talked to anyone. Had a rough life back then…

I’m quite surprised to learn that this kind of hierarchy actually exists outside of Hollywood films. Here in the UK a everyone’s just kinda there to learn and chill in their friend groups. The only thing that’ll get you to parties is being in with the chav friend groups and the only thing that’ll get you “rizz” is your looks (sad but true)

To all those geeks out there, let me tell you, being popular isn't as cool as you might think, at my old school I was like level 5 probably, but after a bit of time I just was annoyed cause everybody wanted to chill with me, now I moved an I'm on a new school. I'm probably level 3 or something, and I like it way more

Sorry if my english is shit, I'm german and baked

What about the kid who was well known, yet not popular? I was voted most likely to be famous in my high school yearbook, however I was never given the same treatment as the popular group. Even though I hung out with all the popular kids and was cool with them, I was treated like I wasn't even on that pyramid, but a different one. (It was very odd. I was nice to everybody I just stood up for my values and didn't follow what everyone else did blindly.) My advice: Don't feel like you have to change for anyone else except yourself. You can be popular without blindly following the other popular kids. Befriend people on all levels and you will always have people to talk to everywhere you go.

I honestly like to be myself and I like to do things I enjoy but the only thing that I get scared of and stops me from being me is really just the judgment from people and it always been like this since I was a kid and I hate when people laugh at me and think whatever I do is stupid or dumb. I am probably considered just a chill dude but inside I just don't like to do anything at all and I get really bad anxiety.

My advice from someone who doesn’t care about where they stand among this. Friends are important, and you might want to become popular to get friends, but any friends made upon changing yourself for others/society aren’t true friends. Change yourself for yourself, not others. Be yourself, and literally everything else will come naturally to you.

I don't like the idea of "popularity" since it means nothing after HS. That's why I don't care if people like me or not, I'm content with where I am and I'm very proud of myself from where I was a year ago.. That said, be yourself and move on if things don't work out right

For my middle school life, I was a sport sweat that spent most of my time alone playing pokemon. But when I got to high school I started socializing and became a popular kid that plays pokemon and gives my soul in PE
