Why would you buy an HDD when SSD's exist? An HDD (hard disk drive) has a physical spinning disk which makes it more vulrable to damage but it does tend to be much cheaper than SSD's per TB of data. So if you need more storage at a cheaper cost, this is the way to go.

I'm always curious about data transfer rates. Most drives of both kinds never have any numbers like SD cards, for example. Cables aren't ever rated either. It seems really silly. Like how are they all compared for running an operating system?
And then thermal profiles, power usage, etc. I wish it was regulated and measured so we could know what we are buying. All the expensive stuff is mostly just paying for a brand label, doesn't mean it works good.
I've used 20 year old hdds that are perfection! Fast, cool, low power, huge storage, and very surprising. Kinda noisy bearings? That's a sacrifice.

It’s kinda funny how HDDs that are popular in mostly every computer, is about as delicate as glass. I swear! Whenever I drop a pillow on my laptop it just freezes up.
