‘Places in News’ is yet another new initiative of BYJU’S Exam Prep IAS where we simplify map reading by discussing the most important places that make headlines and are relevant for the UPSC IAS exam. The series will focus on why the chosen place is in the news, its geography and other aspects of the place, and how it is important for the IAS exam.

Concept of lokpal is also taken from Sweden .

It is a capsule made by IARI, has got bio enzyme in it.

And coal links to the coal gasification plants that were in news

Which produces diesel and gasoline .
But the carbon footprint here is about 150% higher.
And emits twice amount of so2 and co2.

And co2 leads to the composition of gases in atmosphere
N2 is 78%, O2 21%, Ar 0.9%, 0.1% are other gases co2, h20, ch4, neon.

And Baltic Sea also leads to the three seas initiative
Which includes
Baltic Sea, Adriatic sea and black sea.

2.coral bleaching
They are in North East part of australia

And this takes me to the
Physical features of australia
In North we have timur sea, arafura sea and Torres strait
Torres strait separate aus from Papua new guinea
In East there is Queensland and Wales and the great dividing range and yes the coral sea .

Eastern australia has the warm ocean current.
In South there is bass strait.
Between melbourne and Tasmania.

And corals takes to the angira bank
Which is in gujarat, and has the potential to become great indian reef .

Corals are the association of zooxanthalles and polyps.
Zooxanthalles provide them colours and polyps gives them home.

Corals are found in shallow water .

And Kimberly plateau is also in Australia .
Kimberly process is related to diamond.

And australia connects to the recent economic cooperation and trade agreement signed with Australians.
Which has provision of strict adherence to rules of origin, compulsary review mechanism after 15 years, entry quotas for indian chefs, yoga teachers.

And one such agreement has also been signed with uae.

4.lipulekh pass
Nepal's kajin sara lake is now the highest lake in the world

Other imp passes are
Mintaka, parpik,aghil in j/k

Umling pass in laddakh where project himank of bro is going on.
Here is pensilungpa glacier as well.

Khardungla pass where there is the highest motorable road

Rezang la which is on LAC .
And j/k
Reminds me of the chenani nishari tunnel that is the india 's longest highway and Asia's longest bidirectional highway .

And few important places in news
From North to south in j& k
Daulat beg oldie, darbok, chusul, chumar.
Then there is wular lake as well which is a ramsar site., A lake of tectonic origin and highest freshwater lake in india.

And other ramsar sites in j and k are hokera, wular, mansar.


Pangongtso is there in ladakh which is the highest saltwater lake
And it's 2/3 part is with china .



Coming to passes of sikkim
There are nathula and jalepla

And yes sikkim takes me to the kanchandzonga which has zemu glacier and teesa originates from here.
Lepcha tribes and found here
And tholu monastery as well.

Loosang and saga dawa are two imp festival of sikkim.


In himachal
Rohtang pass, ravi river passes from here .
Baralach la
And ship kila from here sutlaj passes.
Sutluj rises from rakshastaal
And only tributary of Indus which does not risses from india.

Uttrakhand
We have mana, niti, maouling.
Phul dei festival of uttrakhand was in news.

Nathu la is close to Chumbi valley
Naku la is to the North of sikkim

Zozi la- in erstwhile J&K state
The zozi la tunnel under construction connects Srinagar with Leh via Dras and Kargil

Nathula- In the strategic chicken neck- Sikkim, Economic importance- Open Trading route b/w India and China, Route to pilgrimage sites. High tensions being near the Chumbi valley, tri junction b/w India, Bhutan and China.
Shpki La- In the kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Also an open trading point. Connects Pilgrimage Sites to erstwhile Tibet. Located through Satluj gorge.
Zoji La- In Ladakh, Kashmir. Connectivity link b/w Srinagar and Leh. In the area of cold desert. BRO removes snow during winters. Rough terrain, narrow roads making it sceptical. Govt approved Zojila tunnel to reduce travel time and vulnerability to accidents.
