The "tens of dollars" comment made me chuckle. Great informative video.

This is great, I actually don’t even own a cast net at all—I fish exclusively artificial stuff—but now I’m thinking maybe I could learn with this.

Great info and great vid!
I've never had a premium cast net. I always end up buying whats the most affordable. They all work fine for me. I think if I made a living from fishing or used one all the time, it might be worth the extra cash for a higher grade one. But since I use them only three or 4 times a season I'll stick with the thrifty versions.

Part of this video was ok I guess. The part in the shop was ok I guess. The part where you were wearing the awesome Adventure Outdoors shirt was extremely enjoyable and it helped highlight your mastery of throwing a cast net. HUGE thumbs up!

I’m terrible throwing a cast net this looks worth a try. Do you have a video showing how to throw one or possibly a video you would recommend to watch

Nice Pancakes!!!! I am in the process of trying to learn to throw a cast net.
I just built a 1 oz cast net sinker mold for a friend of mine that makes 6 sinkers at a time. He makes custom Cast Nets and makes his own cast net sinkers. He really likes it and the new tool brought a nice smile to his face. Ha Ha

Good information. I'd never considered a kid's net, always thought of them more as toys. Our old castnet (don't remember brand) still works OK for now, but is getting long of tooth (seems stiffer, more brittle, and tangles more than it used to). We'll need another one at some point and we'll look at that as an option as it may be easier for my wife to use.

I put an extra set of old weights around mine ...sinks faster and with a bit of spin pops open for better cast . All my boys n nephews got a new one every Christmas Set the hook brother

I have found throwing the castnet from the kayak has a lot more to do with footing than net weight or length. Example, my son has a viking reload, the design of the cockpit makes throwing a net much more difficult than throwing from my viking 440. I like to find a spot to wedge my feet and always prefer either sock feet or bare feet. I think expensive "pro" castnets seem to hold up longer. All that said, I am netting shad in all depths of water, not just shallow water. Good vid.

Ok the next one i get will be one of those. Do they have comparable sizes? My first one was a 5 foot. It works but i think i could throw something bigger and healthier. I know i don’t need to but i believe i could.
