Anchovies when fried to a crisp after marinating in spices tastes awesome. Served both curried and fried in India but the fried is my favourite, you can just throw 4 or 5 into the mouth and chew they're so crunchy

In Malaysia we eat them quite often. Its sold dried and then deep fried to achieve crispiness. Then its added to 'nasi lemak' our nasional dish which is coconut milk infused rice with sambal(a type of sweet chilli sauce) to add texture. I am not afraid to admit that I fight over the anchovies everytime

Actually if I'm not wrong, anchovies are pretty popular in Turkey, especially in the Black Sea region. It's translated as hamsi, and you can check some Turkish recipes. I haven't had the boxed type of it but we fry them with some corn starch and it tastes absolutely delicious.

In Türkiye, we coat the anchovies in corn flour and salt, and then fry them with less oil in a large pan. It tastes wonderful, especially when it has less awn.
