This makes up over a third of global military spending.
Russia was the fifth highest nation with 66 billion. This increased by around 3 percent last year as Russia built up its forces at the Ukrainian border.
China has the largest army in the world, with around 2 million active military personnel.
Its spending has more than doubled over the last decade.
South America, Africa, and Oceania combined make up less than six percent of global military spending, despite accounting for a quarter of the world's population.
The Middle East alone has more spending than these three continents.
Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia each spent more than 6 percent of GDP on their militaries, making them the three highest spenders proportionally.
The world as a whole spent 2.2% of its GDP on military expenditure
