As a fisherman, those are kind of bodies of water you don't want to some in contact with or have a cut in your lower extremities. There is feces and septic tank overflow.

This also happened to a young lady in Lake Havasu, near where I live. In the summer, especially in Az, your safer in public pools, as they tend to be colder and bacteria doesn't grow rapidly, when its cold. Or your own cold pool.

So sad - sorry that this happened. But this has to be rare, right? In other words, is this more common in recent years, or common at all, or does it simply appear statistically dangerous because of the media we have in recent years? It seems like the risk is blown out of proportion, especially with social media, but is that accurate to say? I would love to see (evidence-based) info on that.
