16 time WWE champion John Cena, 13 time Randy Orton enters the conversation!

It's essentially the Japanese "Cena wins, LOL"

I think guys like Jay White are actually a breath of fresh air,
My man wasn't on top of New Japan he climbed to the top like almost every Bullet Club leader.

You would’ve had a heart attack during the Bruno and Hogan era.

It's like the best of the super juniors, Hiromu Takahashi has won 4 of the last 5.

they cater for their japanese audience, not us overseas viewers. its very simple to understand, the japanese fans buy tickets to see guys like okada in big match situations.

It's not entirely true. Jay White, Ospreay, Shingo, Ibushi, and Evil all held the top championship for their first times within the last 3 years. And Sanada and ZSJ have all been in the picture. So they do elevate new people, but the people they select are so few that it allows the main event and belt to still feel incredibly special

Okada is probably one of the worst examples of this problem you could point to because while he wins a lot, he genuinely does a lot of great work elevating those around him, regularly puts over people lower on the card, while still being a dependable established figure for the company. He's just doing the same thing Tanahashi did, and his track record of high profile feuds being career defining moments with the people he works with speaks for itself.

Plus you know, there's still the whole "only a select few can go in the ring like he can" thing

Japanese people love the story of the invencible, the perfect guy that never lose. They love the repetition in storytelling. It’s part of his culture you can see it in movies, manga, anime and even his own Internal country story. ☠️ so yeah…

Two years of Judgment Day.
3 years of the Bloodline.
With the same finish in basically every one of their matches.
At least the G1 is just a temporary thing.
And their major titles change hands more than once every 2 years.
I get that some fans only watch NJPW during the G1, but that's like only watching the NFL for the Super Bowl 🤷

Okada is literally the NJPW version of John Cena.

“Not willing to admit this because they have great wrestling” “stop making exceptions for New Japan that you wouldn’t make for WWE”… it’s almost like the wrestling matters 😮. Sheeeeshh
