Always found it so unfair that she didn’t become MASSIVE after her amazing performance as Blair on Gossip Girl, like she literally CARRIED the show on her back and then her career seemed to taper off after it ended. Fingers crossed this helps her get back on top

The ways Leighton Meester and Blake Lively’s careers developed post GG provide such an interesting look into how family background and privilege impact the opportunities you have and your abilities to “play the game” to advance. Blake comes from a Hollywood family, made A list friends and married RR as he was on his way up. Leighton grew up in an abuse family environment and was dealing with a lot of legal issue related to her family. To my knowledge, she didn’t try to befriend/date celebrities “more famous” than her to advance her professional or social standing. Both people seem genuinely hard working. This isn’t a critique of Blake either because there’s nothing wrong with using the opportunities you have to your advantage. I’m happy to see Leighton in more projects and hope she continues to find success in her own way!

The “no make up” look Leighton has in this film (which I’m sure is in fact very effectively done make up) works really well against the backdrop of glitz and glamour. Certainly looks worth wasting a weekend on!

Happy to see this! Will continue waiting for the day Leighton is cast in an amazing series worthy of her talent. Hands down the best actor on GG. She made a very sympathetic, fan favourite character out of a character that wouldn’t have been otherwise. I use to be a massive GG fan and Leighton stan and although I haven’t kept up with her the past few years, I will always be a fan and have a soft spot for her because I know from having followed her so closely for many years that she is a very genuine, sweet person (fun fact: she’s also besties with Claire from Lizzie McGuire and Aly & AJ 🤪). She’d be so good in a FNL type show. Just raw, emotional acting. ❤️
