Prime Minister Boris Johnson vowed the UK and Poland will 'not accept neighbourhood bully' Russia, as he met his Polish counterpart in Warsaw today.
Boris Johnson's comments came as Britain expanded its military presence in Poland as part of a NATO push to bolster the alliance's eastern flank. Johnson was speaking at a joint news conference with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Tensions in the region remained high as Russia held military exercises in Belarus and the Black Sea, but leaders on all sides signalled they hoped diplomacy could still prevail.
British troops landed in Poland on Thursday as part of a 350-strong personnel reinforcement, after 100 troops were sent last year to help with a migrant crisis at its border with Belarus.
