Remember Cassette Singles? A Look Back At 'Cassingles'
Показать описание
If you collected music in the late 80s and into the mid 90s, I am sure you must recall cassette singles. They were very popular for a number of years. These were basically cassettes with just a few songs on them. Usually it would be a hit of the day, along with another song from the album (maybe a live cut or a remix). And the same two songs would be repeated on side two of the cassette.
The cassette single was intended to replace the 7 inch vinyl single as record sales dwindled in the latter part of the 80s. I owned a number of these myself, which I will talk more about in the video. The funny thing is, these cassette singles were around a lot earlier than many people realize, and they were around a lot longer than most folks recall.
These often came in a cardboard sleeve, although some of them came in a regular jewel case. In this video, I talk about the very first cassette single (it may not be what you think!) in the UK and the USA. I recall they usually sold for somewhere between 3 to 4 dollars.
Before streaming and MP3s, these cassingles were all the rage, and millions of them were sold around the world.
