When we didn’t have cable, vhs saved the day. We would find tapes at thrift stores. “buy one get ten free” was usually the catch. Which actually worked out great because I also have 5 copies of forest gump and 5 copies of Mrs. doubtfire. However my biggest pet peeve was titanic counted as 2 of the 10 tapes you got free. They crushed my dreams of owning the titanic movies 20 times.

The death of VHS has been the bane of theater moviegoers. Without their limitations holding things back, movies have been getting longer and longer. I can't remember the last time I was able to watch a movie without at least one bathroom break.

Man what a blast from the past. I was born in 98, and spent half of my childhood with vhs tapes, casettes, and cds lol. Then tech just kinda accelerated, phones were no longer a privilege but a necessity, cellular data was expensive, Netflix was still mail order then!

Badass collection! I’ve got a little over 120 tapes also. I’ve been using a 20 inch VCR / TV combo display but I’m ordering my first dedicated VHS player soon!! I think it can even write a VHS to a DVD. Which I would adore to be making backups as I watch movies😂

For the longest time i would collect the VHS tapes of the first season of the Pokemon anime. I’m a huge pokemon fan, and i actually had to rescue the majority of my pokemon VHS tape collection from the local dump. People were throwing them out in good condition! Oh well, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure right?

Had a top tier VCR with a ton of heads. I about bricked when i rewound a tape for the first time. It sounded like a jet engine spooling up.
Back in 96 it was over 200 bucks
