The A4TY Student New Music Project commissions composers to write new works for the Bloomingdale School of Music. In addition, there is a Call for Scores from student composers in the Bloomingdale community. The project, now in its tenth season, was founded by Katy Luo and is currently curated by Margalit Cantor. This year, 50 BSM students took the stage to perform a unique program featuring 31 original student compositions, along with a new quintet written by composer Mario Diaz De Leon, commissioned by BSM for the evening. The scores ranged from short solo piano, violin and flute works, to larger ensemble pieces for strings, winds and percussion.

Established in 1964, Bloomingdale School of Music is a community music school located in New York City's Upper West Side. BSM offers access to high quality music instruction and performance to students of all ages. We offer private lessons, classes, and ensembles, in addition to presenting more than 70 free concerts, master classes, and workshops annually.
