Tweed Jacket Reviews Christmas Special: 1976 Datsun 260Z 2+2 - Lloyd Vehicle Consulting

In this review, suitably attired, we go for a drive out in the Hampshire countryside to test a wonderful 1976 Datsun 260Z 2+2 and see how practical it is, what it is like to drive and what it is like to own. Be prepared for more in-jokes for fans of a certain long-running spy film franchise (as usual), references to Peter Serafinowicz's seminal spoof science series Look Around You, a complete lack of secret mission document storage, an annoying fixed seatbelt, a very high clutch biting point, some rather stylish drive by shots, a very windy filming location, a questionable solution to ventilation, some original dealer plates and really very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

As an independent vehicle consultant, I take potential buyers through the whole car buying process from choosing a make and model to a vehicle handover and road tax. In addition to information on this service, I also have a selection of written and video reviews of cars that I have owned, hired, borrowed or have somehow come into my possession. Please use the Contact Me page on my website to get in touch, visit my Facebook page for latest updates and share this video if you like it! Thank you for watching.

This car is in really good condition. Nice review as well. Keep up the good work mate. Here is Australia, you can find some good examples but they are getting very expensive.

An exceptional Tweed Jacket Review Mr. Joseph Lloyd!
My 6th grade replacement teacher had a brown 260Z 2+2 automatic who was forever getting speeding tickets!
Interesting to hear that this was one model year only in the US!
These rust just like anything from Japan during that decade, so very rare indeed. And secondary gagues were canted towards the driver for greater visibility.
Merry Christmas to yourself and your lovely wife!

Merry Christmas Sir, and what a review, certainly missed a tweed jacket review. Another amazing car in this amazing collection and I do like a z car. Well done to yourself and Mr Bill for this Christmas special.

In the immortal words of Mr Adrian Dunbar, " Now you're suckin diesel, " Mr Lloyd.
What a beautiful car and in amazing condition. I knew a council worker who ran one in about 1987. It was on an S plate, so 1977/78, I believe. It was either yellow or orange but it was always so dirty that it was hard to tell. The chap never drove the 260 Z faster than 45 mph but that didn't matter because it looked every inch a thoroughbred sports car with its faded Mag alloy wheels. So low and sleek with that amazing soundtrack. I bet he wishes he still had her.
Merry Merry Christmas to Mr Franks and yourself in that fine Tweed Jacket.

Health and happy Christmas to You and your family, Sir. Oh, and a lot of great, great cars. Like this Datsun, for example.

Love the auxiliary gauges in the angled centre dash and the rev counter and Speedo recessed into tunnels behind the wheel.
Very 70s with all that vinyl I would agree but it's a 70s car at the end of the day.
I expect it would have felt very special driving away in that car when it was first registered.

Great stuff! Aunt had on in the early 80s RDK 777S, 0-60 in 8 is not bad at all, there was plenty of room in the i was only about 7!

Now here's why I don't like SUVs... You just can't Woollard comfortably unless you're double jointed.

What an absolutely beautiful car! 😃 Enjoyed this very much. I would also choose a Z car over a Jaguar E-Type. Cheers!

Hope everyone enjoyed this video as much as I did making it! It was freezing on the day of filming but worth it for the car seen here. It is gorgeous! Stuart is a lucky man to have this in his collection.

Great update as usual Joseph, love the new intro format. A UK supplied original 260Z, wow that must be so, so rare and original to have survived. This guys collection of Japanese cars must be totally unrivalled in scope and condition. I’d love to hear the back story of some of these cars too, how did they survive so well?

A sporty car from a era when the Ford Capri was very much the default choice for those seeking a vehicle of this style and price. I expect that few of those who opted for the Z car regretted their choice all things considered, but if memory serves Datsun's of this era were quite as capable of rapidly disintegrating into a untidy pile of ferrous oxide as anything else was. A nice rare and interesting car to have today though.
