Redwood City Fire Department Captain Travis Jones and his strike team were monitoring West Park Avenue in Boulder Creek on Monday when a CZU Lightning Complex spot fire, which flared up from dry winds, began to threaten homes.
Jones and his team created a fire line to make a stand once the flames reached it, explaining why a hose is a secondary tool in firefighting.
