Mega-Review: Samsung Galaxy Camera - With Photo and Video Samples

The GalCam is gorgeous. I've been using this one religiously since getting it just before CES. Samsung was kind enough to left me go hands on for a long term review. So, is this combo of Camera+Android a marriage made in heaven, or are we looking at a future gadget divorce? Only one way to find out...

I'm actally kinda jealous! I was bummed giving it back, but I'll probably spring for the WiFi only version if/when it's released here.
It's kind of a trip being able to do social networking stuff DIRECTLY from the camera. You become accustomed to it really quickly.

Thanks. I have a lot of fun doing this, so I'm glad others enjoy my work. There is an HDMI port on the battery door if you'd like to plug the camera into a TV or display with an HDMI input.

It wont stay in maco mode when zoomed out beyond a certain distance. Most cameras will disable macro mode as the lens elements aren't designed for both a longer reach and a close proximity at the same time.

Tricky. I haven't heard any rumors on a GalCam refresh. It'll really depend on how soon you want to get a new camera.

You can with a Canon DSLR and DSLR Controller BETA over an OTG cable, but I don't know why you'd want to when a tablet would probably work better.

A canon super zoom point and shoot will probably have slightly better output and faster performance while being cheaper, but the Galaxy Camera will have more sharing and connectivity options, not to mention android app support, so editing can be done in camera, and it can be used as a media/entertainment device too, like an iPod Touch.

Thanks. It's not all bad. You could carry a spare internal battery, or you can also charge off off portable external smartphone batteries like the Nokia DC16 I also reviewed on this Youtube channel.

can you help me with my problem. I have some pictures, about 100 pictures stored in this CAMERA WITHOUT THE MICRO SD. But I can not do anything with them, another word, can not access them, load them to my laptop. Can not figure out where they are stored. any ideas ? thank you.

In 'Camera' pane in Settings, there's a 'Self-shot Guidance' function in Korean Galaxy Camera, that detects the number of people and beeps in several levels notifying whether the photo is centered or not. Sadly, even in Korea, the Wi-Fi version does not have that function - Only LTE Models. Hmm.

Great review, best review I've seen yet. When you were having focus issues while zoomed out would it make a difference if it was set to macro vs auto? Maybe not?

Can I just say...YOUR AWESOME!!!! I love to take pictures!!! Always have been known to have one in my hand!! I do have some issues, some of my pictures, of people (groups), they come out blurry? What am I doing wrong? And when should you have the flash up? When I go hiking up to Mt. Rainier (my favorite place to take pictures!), I get a lot of photos with the purple dots on them??? I am not a photographer, but I would secretly love to be, but I don't understand a lot of the expert settings, I dabble in trying different ones (but I need to write down what setting I had for each picture!), but taking pictures indoors, of people, what do you suggest having the setting on? I know it depends on the light that is in there, but maybe some suggestions? I volunteer for make a wish foundation, I take a lot of the pictures...so as you can imagine, I don't get a second chance, they have to turn out! Can you help me? I love candid photos, not posed ones...I think I have a great eye for choosing what I do, I just want to make sure I get it without being blurry. Outdoors, it is so hard having the bright light, it tends to sometime just have the shadow of the person, not features. I'm sorry for all the "neediness, " I would so appreciate any help you could give me. "If you weren't so darn good, I wouldn't hassle you with all these questions!" But, I do appreciate all the info you have given, by far the best you tube informative video I have seen!! Besides...you are so darn cute to look at...lol thanks again.

HI. I have had my Samsung Galaxy for a while. I love it. BUT when we go sailing it is not always possible to send stuff to DropBox or wherever . I love to take loads of pics. Last year I ran out of storage apace. Can I buy more storage? Where, how? Online? Or could my pics be transferred to another device like a flash drive, or a tablet or?
