No, they haven't. Team cherry has taken our goodwill and shit on it. SHIT on it. PIRATE THIS GAME, DO NOT BUY IT. GET A VPN, LEARN HOW TO PIRATE, QUIT GIVING MONEY TO GREEDY SHITS.

Boycotting a game that doesn't exist is wild 😅

Hollow knight never seemed toxic, until john silksong happened

Guys whatever you do don’t end up on the silksong subreddit as the subject of discussion💀

I think an important thing is to acknowledge your disappointment toward the delays and the non-communication and then temper it by trying to understand things from Team Cherry's point of view. Hollow Knight was their first major release. And it became a monumental game with major ramifications on the industry. But that doesn't immediately change who Team Cherry is. They're still passion project indie devs, and a lot of what's going on is new ground to them. It's probably overwhelming. It's probably a bit scary. Imagine the Hollow Knight fandom looking at you expectantly, placing all these massive hopes onto you, directing all their excitement and impatience your way. At that point, wouldn't you struggle to engage too? Wouldn't you have no idea what to say, so instead you try to just say as little as possible and focus on what you know.

I think Team Cherry's biggest mistake might have been announcing Silksong so soon. But even then, I think it's an understandable mistake to make. They were simply excited to share this new game with everyone, and probably felt the need to address the Hornet DLC goal from the kickstarter.

At the end of the day, just try to be patient, remember that Devs are people too, and keep in mind that a derailed hype train is the best way to ruin an otherwise enjoyable game for yourself.

a "not this year" would be more than enough from team cherry.

I'm not that mad at the delays. Rather a good game than a rushed game. But the lack of communication has really annoyed me. But this guy has definitely gone to far

Gotta admit, whenever a game from my wishlist goes on sale and I scroll through said wishlist the "coming soon" on Silksong always gives me a little cackle

My daughter is a little fan of Hollow knight, I've 3d printed every hollow knight model I can find for her.
Last year when I told her the silksong gonna released, and I'm gonna purchase it for her as her birthday gift. She was super hyped. However, it's been a whole year, and still no release date of silksong. So I purchased every metroidvania game I can find as alternative. She's too small to play such hard game, so, I have to take all those challenges. Thanks team cherry to made me an expert of metroidvania 😂

I feel like people wouldn’t have gone as insane if the trailer wasn’t released that early. The game looked almost finished in the trailer with so many mechanics, characters and areas already completed, and then 5 years of no communication outside of “we’re still alive” probably made people wonder what there was even left to develop

I just want ANY form of communication. Carrier pigeon, morse code, arcane egg, smoke signals, I dont even know at this point

This is part of why I just don't follow gaming news. If somethin good comes out, then its always a pleasant surprise. Imagine youre distracted with playing other games, and your friend just comes to you like "you play silksong yet?" And you're like "fuckin WHAT" and suddenly youre scrambling to buy it with pure excitement because you had no idea it was coming, you were so disconnected from the news. Thats what Im expecting

I took a step into r/Silksong yesterday and saw how toxic the fanbase is there and I was just thinking about fireb0rn talking about this issue lol.

anyone who ever rants about "hiring more employees" thinking that makes things better or faster has 0 idea how game development works. at a certain point it can actually slow things down having to get new hires used to the codebase/integrated into the team. the team themselves would know if they needed someone, and needing that person would not be "to speed up development" it would be to fill a useful role/roles that is needed to be filled

I havent watched the video yet but the thumbnail and title combo makes it sound like Silksong fanatics finally tracked down Mossbag with ritual knives

Team Cherry has infinite patience from me. It doesn't matter to me how long it takes I'm still gonna buy silksong as soon as it comes out. They gave us an absolute gem for $15 and then proceeded to put out 4 dlc for free. I've spent hundreds of hours playing it and I will wait for the sequel to release. The hype is certainly gone but that doesn't mean they aren't still doing all the little tweaks they did for HK.

Team Cherry's mistake was announcing the game too early. Think of all of the games that, had they been announced to such a dedicated fanbase so early, would be in a similar boat to Silksong
I don't imagine Silksong has an unreasonable production time, it is just people were made aware of it so early and that is whete the problem lies
