Thank you for the helpful legal information.
Note that if you're referring to the claims held by the Gold Prospectors Association of America - several years ago, many of their claims in SoCal were closed even though the book listed them as open. I learned the hard way when stopping by several of them during a trip. It was very frustrating.

And please don't stress about production delivery/release - you have a life like we all do, so whenever you invite us to virtually join your adventures, we'll be happy to watch, no matter when 🤗

Hey Bill, have you ever talked to park grounds folks? One time i got the following feedback-(just the one so this ain't science just an idea) that loose plugs can get sucked up and shredded by the lawnmowers they use. I started to make slightly bigger holes and try and keep a "flap" to hold the plug down. Additionally i refuse to dig in dried out soil in a park on hot days. It will most likely kill the grass. One little trick on that is to dig in the drip and shadow lines of trees. Reading the environment is a fun skill that develops in this addiction of ours.

I’ve detected hundreds of parks in So Cal with little there’s a section (incorporated) of Whittier, CA that requires a permit to detect, and I’ve heard it wasn’t cheap. I typically avoid that area of Whittier...but that area has really old parks that I’ve never detected before, but the permit states no digging past 6” 🤔....also I was told by a park worker I couldn’t dig at city of Orange parks (specifically Hart Park off of 22 Fwy and Glassell. Lady said they passed an ordinance not too long ago about digging in parks in that city, but I’ve been detecting Irvine park for more than a decade with no problems..

I know how much work this takes and we appreciate all the effort you guys put in. Great advice for people and hope you get to relic hunting at some point. One thing we will be remembered for is the trash humans leave behind. Christine the snoopy snooper is very cool but we all appreciate you Bill

State parks here in Central Ca….activities not allowed are on each individual web page. One on-site park manager told me “no”. I contacted regional state park director who informed me it was no problem. Not a prohibited recreational activity. I returned and detected finding several silver coins, wheaties & a couple Indian heads. The local onsite mgr was “butt-hurt” but I’ve done my best to mitigate her angst with home grown fruit & vegetables. Life happens! Thanks

Thanks for the Technical info on park permits. I have found that if i talk to local law enforcement they are enthusiastic and just want you to leave clean plugs. One officer told me where his Chief liked to go metal detecting! If you introduce yourself and get there name i imagine on the off chance that someone complains it's going to be the officer you just made friends with. Just a thought. Most recently i went to a park that was closed(before the ground froze) and asked staff if it was ok to works the tot lots. A-ok. Me and the wife had a huge park all to ourselves with multiple lots. Wife found a crazy quarter spill (19) over a roughly 10 foot circle. You could picture the kid tripping and the quarters flying.
I think i told this one...Any who, for those still with me, The point is, be nice!
I always pick up trash and have left little cars, gloves, hats in places that they could be found sometimes with a few coins. Can you imagine a kid finding a toy and cupcake money?
Last thing (proly not) is that i have a joke in the pocket about hunting for gold doubloons or finding a "Ro-LOX" watch but throwing it in the garbage cause it was dirty.I fnothing else it puts folks at ease. This hobby, this passion, allows us many opportunities to have and give wholesome smiles. I think it's pretty cool.

Add a cupcake on Gary's wing. He'll be looking back at it. That would be a cool shirt and logo. Love the content. Keep it up let's start thinking about 10k subs!

Great info. Did I see you two at a Route 66 Gold Miners meeting in Brea this last year?

We have what I hope is a unique situation in one of our nearby towns. At some point, the Parks and Rec manager took it upon himself to decide not to allow metal detecting and put up signs in all of the parks. HOWEVER, he didn't actually have the authority to make that decision, per the city attorney. There is no ordinance to that effect so the signs mean nothing. But it may take 10 years for our local club to work out how to get all of those signs down and how to re-educate law enforcement and the parks workers. City in question is Palm Bay, FL, in case anyone is curious.
